Milan designer Anna Lodi has crafted a tortellini-shaped jewelry line. She made the pasta-shaped earrings and pins from glass mosaic — interestingly called “pasta vetro” in Italian.
Lodi says each piece is made by hand in the same way the tortellini that ends up on your plate does, so all are unique.
While Lodi’s creations certainly give food for thought to Atkin’s diet followers and carb haters everywhere, I can’t decide whether the baubles are mouthwatering or just silly. I might be more inclined to wear a tortellini as a bracelet charm or maybe the earrings if they didn’t dangle.
What do you think?

When I saw the headline on the RSS feed, I pictured a giant tortellini, worn as a poncho, and edible. I’m not sure if I’m relieved or disappointed to find them regular size and made of glass mosaic. A bit of both, I think.
Ha – even harder to imagine the Milanese ladies wearing that!
I think there’s potential for starting a trend here. We just have to introduce this in Paris, saying edible clothes are the latest thing in Milan. Not wanted to be beaten in food or fashion, the Parisians* will rush to do it bigger and better.
Croissant hat anyone?
As a quick disclaimer, two of my closest friends are Parisian.

I love them! I’d wear them if they weren’t too heavy, pulling my ears down to my shoulders.
At Hallowe’en I’ve dressed as The Pasta Queen, a home made outfit. My crown is a Catelli spaghetti box decorated with farfalle on the peaks. Jewellry is a rigatoni necklace with matching rigatoni earrings, strung on simple string. I wear my apron of a map of Italy’s regions each with their special pastas. I stick a farfalle on each of my green shoes. I wear a white skirt, red top and green stockings–i tricolore!
Any other pasta jewellry coming out soon? Silly but fun!
